TIL my coworker dropped 'ghosting' in a work meeting and nobody blinked
I was in a planning meeting yesterday at the office in Austin, and my coworker said 'our client totally ghosted us on that revision deadline.' I mean, I use 'ghosting' all the time for dating stuff, but hearing it in a professional setting about a vendor just hit different. It got me thinking: how many other slang words are quietly crossing over into normal talk without us noticing? Like, I've heard people say 'slay' about a project presentation now too. Has anyone else caught slang sneaking into places where it totally didn't belong a few years ago?

Wait, someone actually said "slay" in a professional meeting about a project presentation? My brain would have short-circuited if I heard that in a conference room. I thought that was strictly reserved for drag shows and Instagram caption wars. Now I'm worried I'll accidentally say "yeet" when I'm handing off a report to my boss next week.

So have you actually heard "yeet" in a real meeting yet? Because I feel like that's just a ticking time bomb waiting to happen at my office. The other day someone said "bruh" under their breath during a Zoom call and I almost lost it. I don't know why but hearing casual slang in a place where people used to say "circle back" and "touch base" feels so weirdly human and unprofessional at the same time. It's like we're all just slowly dropping the corporate act and nobody's sure if that's a good thing or not.
