This buzzword I kept using cost me $200 on a project
I kept hearing people say 'synergy' in online marketing groups and thought it sounded smart. So I paid a consultant $200 to help me 'find synergy' between my blog and social media. Turned out he just told me to cross-post links, which I could have done for free. Has anyone else gotten burned by a fancy term that meant nothing?

Cross-posted to my cat blog once and thought I was a genius marketer. $200 just to learn what a middle schooler could figure out in five minutes. Next time I'm saving my money and just Googling "how to be basic at promoting stuff.

Yeah I heard some marketing dude on a podcast say crossposting is like the lowest hanging fruit but nobody actually does it right. They act like they invented sliced bread but really it's just reposting your stuff and hoping people care. $200 is wild for basic advice you could get from a YouTube video. I saw someone brag about their "content strategy" and it was just them copying tweets from 2018. You're better off saving the cash and testing stuff yourself.
