That time I rolled my eyes at "ghosting" then realized I was doing it myself
I thought ghosting was just some dramatic Gen Z term for not texting back. Then last month I had three clients just stop showing up for their grooming appointments with zero explanation, and it hit me how frustrating it is. Has anyone else had a slang term sneak up on them like that?

Wait, is ghosting really that serious though? Like, you're comparing clients who literally pay for a service to someone not texting back about a casual hangout? Thats two completely different things. @dylanmurray I get what you're saying about how easy it is to do but come on, not showing up to help paint a garage is not the same as ghosting someone you're dating or whatever. People been flaking on plans since before smartphones existed, we just gave it a fancy name and now everyone's acting like its some new moral failure. Maybe its okay to just admit you forgot or changed your mind without making it into this whole thing.

Oh boy, you just called me out hard. I used to joke about ghosting too, figured it was just people being flaky. Then I realized I did it to someone last week - told a friend I'd help them move, then just... didn't show up. No text, no call, nothing. Felt like a total hypocrite when I saw their follow-up message sitting there for three days. Guess we're all a little guilty of being that person sometimes.

That's the thing with ghosting, it's so easy to do in the moment and then you just... forget. I've been that person too, promised to help a buddy paint his garage and straight up never showed. It's like we're all just walking around thinking we're better than that until we're not.
