That time I called something 'fetch' and my daughter laughed at me for a solid minute
Was scrolling through Instagram last week and saw a kid use 'slay' like a regular verb, not even in a fashion context. My nephew told me last month that saying 'on fleek' makes me sound like I'm from 2015. Is there a rule for how fast these words cycle out, or are we all just guessing?

What is it with kids and slang anyway? I remember when I was a teenager and we said "hip" for cool, then my dad used it at a family dinner and I wanted to crawl under the table. It's like once a parent or someone over 30 says a word, it immediately gets retired. My buddy in construction still says "rad" unironically. We all just stare at him until he catches himself. I think the cycle is faster now because of social media. You blink and your whole vocabulary is outdated.

Think slang just works differently for different age groups and there's no real rule.
