That 'quiet luxury' hashtag cost me 300 bucks on a plain gray sweater
I kept seeing quiet luxury all over my feed and thought it meant buying expensive basics that look cheap but feel expensive. So I dropped 300 dollars on a plain gray crewneck from some brand I found through an influencer tag. It literally looks like a walmart sweater, the tag inside says made in Portugal but nobody can tell that, and my roommate thought I bought it at a gas station. I wore it once and returned it after dealing with their 10 day return policy mess. The real joke is the term itself is now everywhere, so the whole point of being subtle and understated is dead. Has anyone else paid the 'aesthetic tax' on a trend that got oversaturated the second it hit TikTok?
