Tbh, I had to ask my 14-year-old niece what 'goblin mode' meant last week

Honestly, I saw it everywhere for like 3 days straight, on Twitter and in group chats. I thought it was some new fantasy game thing. Ngl, she just looked at me and said, 'Uncle Pat, it's just when you're a total slob and don't care.' The whole thing made me feel super old. Has anyone else had a slang term just completely pass them by like that?

Ugh, the worst part is when you try to use the slang after you learn it and it's already over.

Ever feel like you're always one step behind? I just lean into it now and use the old slang anyway, @miles72. It's more fun to not take it so serious.

Feel that deep in my bones. Remember when "on fleek" was a thing? I finally said it out loud at a family cookout and my cousin just winced. The cycle is brutal. You're always either too late or trying too hard. Maybe we should just make up our own dumb slang and see if it catches on.
