Realized how fast 'ghosting' went from a niche dating term to everyday vocabulary

My coworker used it to describe a client who stopped responding to emails and I had to stop and think about when that word just became normal for everyone since I first heard it back in 2016 on some dating blog.

2016 is about right I think, I remember the first time someone said they got ghosted and I had to ask what they meant. Now my mom uses it when someone doesn't text her back and I'm like okay this is just how we talk now.

My buddy Tom got ghosted by a girl in 2015 and he still brings it up.
