PSA: The word 'demure' is taking over every video on my feed

I was scrolling through TikTok in Seattle last week and suddenly every single video had that word in the caption. People are calling their coffee orders demure, their outfits demure, even their dog's behavior demure. It's not even being used right half the time! Now my 12 year old niece is using it in every text she sends me. Has anyone else noticed this word popping up everywhere?

Fifty years ago people were doing the macarena at weddings and nobody acted like it changed their life. I don't get the idea that liking a popular thing somehow makes you less of a person. Trends come and go, that's just how it works. And @annas87 is right, we've all been caught up in something silly at some point. It doesn't have to be a big deal. You can enjoy something without acting like it's a deep personal revelation.

Haven't we all been caught up in a silly trend before though?
