Pro tip: "demure" is not a synonym for "minimalist" and I'm tired of seeing it

I spent 45 minutes yesterday trying to find a simple beige sofa on Facebook Marketplace in Portland, and every other listing said it had a "demure" aesthetic. It literally just means modest or reserved, not beige and boring lol. Has anyone else noticed people just grabbing random fancy words on TikTok and using them totally wrong?

43 beige sofas with "demure" in the title and not one of them was actually modest in price lol. People get really bent out of shape over TikTok vocab, but it's just people being silly with words, it's not that deep.

Set your search filters to exclude the word "demure" from results. Saved me so much scrolling through those listings. Also try searching "mid century" or "vintage" instead, way less beige nonsense.
