People say 'gaslighting' for everything now, it's lost all meaning

Last week my buddy claimed his GPS was gaslighting him because it recalculated after he missed a turn in Austin. That's not gaslighting, that's just a dumb mistake. It feels like every disagreement online gets that label now, has anyone noticed it replacing 'lying' or 'confused' entirely?

My sister said her toddler was gaslighting her when he hid a cookie and forgot where he put it. Drives me nuts how people can't just say someone lied or got confused anymore.
