My nephew corrected me on 'slay' and I felt old
I was at a family dinner last Saturday and my 14-year-old nephew said his friend's dance was 'slay.' I thought he meant it was over the top or dramatic like killing it. He looked at me and said no auntie it just means doing something really well or looking good. I had been using it wrong for like 6 months. Has anyone else had a younger relative set them straight on a word you thought you understood?

Yeah I thought "slay" meant being extra too until someone corrected me.

Ugh same! I used to think it was just a way of saying someone looked nice or was confident. My younger cousin had to break it down for me over text one time... still feels weird saying it myself.
