My grandma's old slang got me roasted at a coffee shop in Austin
I was telling this story to a barista about how my grandma used to say "the bees knees" for anything cool. She straight up laughed and said nobody under 50 says that anymore, it's all "lit" or "fire" now. That was like 2 years ago but I still think about how fast these words cycle out. Has anyone else noticed old slang coming back or is that just me?

Six months from now when "fire" sounds as old as "the bees knees" does now, how long until we're all back to saying "hip" and "groovy"?

Grace, you raise a good point. It reminds me of the time my nephew told me something was "lit" and I asked him if it was on fire. He just stared at me like I was from another planet. Language really does spin in circles, doesn't it?
