My cousin called my Insta captions cringe and I actually listened

I was overusing words like 'vibe' and 'slay' in every post. She straight up said nobody talks like that in real life. So I started writing captions like I'm telling a friend what happened, not trying to sound cool. Now my engagement is way higher and I don't feel like a try-hard. Has anyone else had someone call out their online talk and it actually helped?

UGH okay so this HIT me hard because I had basically the same thing happen except it was my little brother watching me type a caption and he just goes "you sound like a bot." That stung SO bad. I was definitely overusing words like 'lit' and 'goals' thinking I was being relatable but really I was just trying to copy what everyone else was doing. Now I just type whatever dumb thought pops in my head and leave it at that. It's way less stressful too because I'm not trying to curate a whole fake persona for every photo of my lunch.
