My boss's 'synergy' bingo card backfired big time

Last Tuesday, our manager handed out a bingo card full of corporate buzzwords like 'circle back' and 'low-hanging fruit' for a team meeting. Within 20 minutes, someone shouted 'BINGO' mid-sentence and the whole room cracked up, but my boss thought we were mocking him and canceled the project. Has anyone else had a slang tracker actually derail a work call before?

I mean, the guy handed out the bingo card himself, so someone yelling "BINGO" mid-sentence is basically the game working as intended. Like, what did he think was gonna happen, people would just quietly mark their cards under the table? The fact that he took it as a personal attack instead of seeing it as a team actually engaging with his dumb icebreaker is honestly kind of hilarious. Low-hanging fruit is a phrase I'd bet money on being on there too, and if I'd been in that room I would've been fighting the urge to yell it myself.
