My 16 year old cousin called some drama 'tea' and I had to ask what it meant
Last week at a family bbq in Chicago she kept saying 'spill the tea' and I thought she was talking about actual iced tea. Tbh I been hearing this word everywhere now, is 'tea' just the new way to say gossip or am I still missing something?

I just started looking up slang on Urban Dictionary before family gatherings. My nephew threw out "no cap" at dinner and I thought he was talking about hats. Now I keep a mental list, like "tea" is gossip, "cap" is a lie, "slay" means you did great. It made things way less awkward. Plus now I can mess with them by using the words wrong on purpose, they hate that.

My 8 year old called me 'sus' last week and I thought she was talking about a pig.
