I finally noticed the before-and-after on slang at my nephew's school in Fresno
Two years ago I couldn't walk through the pick-up line at his school without hearing "yeet" or "bet" every five seconds. Last week I counted maybe 3 kids saying either one, and now it's all "aura points" and "locked in" instead. The shift happened fast too, like one school year, and I think it's because the same 4 or 5 TikTok creators push a word until everyone copies it, then drop it once their moms start saying it. Is it just me or do terms burn out way quicker now than they did when we were kids?
