How the term 'digital detox' started to feel off to me
I used to push the idea of a digital detox as a good thing for everyone. Then I saw it used to shame people who need to stay online for work or community. Is it fair when buzzwords turn into guilt trips?
Maybe the problem isn't the term, but how it gets used as a one size fits all rule. It can turn into a way to judge people instead of starting a real talk about screen time. For a remote worker or someone who finds their people online, logging off isn't some simple fix. The real goal should be better boundaries, not making anyone feel bad for being connected.
