Hit 50,000 views on a single video last week and now I'm torn on whether that makes me a 'creator' or just lucky
I posted a 3-minute rant about the word 'ghosting' being overused in dating apps and somehow it blew up, but now I'm wondering if that makes the term a legit buzzword or just a lazy shorthand that people throw around way too much - what do you think, does hitting a vanity metric like that mean the slang has real staying power or is it just a flash in the pan?

Think you're overthinking this one. 50,000 views on a rant about "ghosting" just means you hit on something lots of people already agreed with, not that the term has any special staying power. Slang sticks around when people actually use it in real conversations, not when a video about it gets a few clicks.

and honestly do we even need to deep dive every slang word that pops up? like ghosting is just not answering someone, we already had that concept it wasn't rocket science. people calling it something new doesn't make it a linguistic revolution or whatever. 50k views is basically nothing in the grand scheme of the internet, my buddy got 80k on a video of his cat sneezing. slang sticks when its useful and people say it in real life, not because a random rant got a few thumbs up for a week.
