Heard 'mid' and 'cooked' in the same day, finally get the difference.
My little cousin in Dallas said a new song was 'mid' but a movie was 'cooked'. Had to ask. Mid is just average, forgettable. Cooked is a total disaster, beyond saving. The movie was apparently so bad it was funny. Anyone got other examples of this kind of tiered slang for quality?

Read an article last week about how these words form a whole scale now. It went from "fire" at the top, down through "decent," then "mid" for the boring middle. After that comes "ass," which is just bad, and finally "cooked" for things that are completely broken. Makes sense as a system, really. The movie being "cooked" means it's past the point of being simply bad. It's a lost cause, but sometimes that's where the entertainment is.

Mid" to "cooked" is a fast trip downhill.

Actually, it's the other way around. "Cooked" means something is overdone or ruined, while "mid" just means average or forgettable. The downhill slide would be from "cooked" back to "mid," because at least "mid" is still playable or usable. Once something is fully cooked, it's a total loss.
