Heard a teen say 'delulu' unironically at the mall food court last weekend

I was standing in line at Panda Express in the Galleria Mall when this girl told her friend 'I'm so delulu for thinking he'd text back.' I asked what it meant and she said it's short for delusional but in a funny way. Now I keep seeing it all over TikTok and even my coworkers use it. Have you guys noticed this one taking over lately?

Dude my coworker said it in a meeting last week and I almost choked on my coffee.

Best thing you can do is laugh it off and keep eye contact. If you freeze up it gets way worse. One time I just said "well that's one way to put it" and moved on. Nobody even remembered 10 minutes later.

Exactly. That's the thing about awkward moments. Most people are so worried about themselves they forget what you said five seconds later. I've done the whole "well alright then" thing and just kept talking like nothing happened. It works because you're basically telling everyone you're not bothered. You gotta commit to it though, if you hesitate or look down they'll know you're flustered.
