Heard a new one at the coffee shop in Boise last week: 'mid'

I was grabbing a coffee and overheard a group of younger folks talking about a movie. One said it was 'mid,' and the others just nodded. Had to look it up later. Turns out it's short for 'middling' or just average, not good or bad. Has anyone else run into this term, and what are you hearing it used for?

Wait, Boise? That's the part that got me. Heard "mid" for years now, but hearing it in a coffee shop in Idaho feels like the future arrived. It's everywhere now, used for anything kinda meh. My little cousin called his new shoes mid last week. The word just won.

The future is a kid in Boise calling a seven dollar latte mid. Next they'll be reviewing sunsets or a good nap with a three out of ten. My grandma's famous casserole wouldn't stand a chance, it's just mid now. We've truly reached peak rating culture.

But is it really that deep?
