Finally clued in on what 'algorithm bait' actually means

I spent like 6 months posting clean photos of my work with just the name of the piece. Got maybe 20 likes each time. Then last week a buddy pointed out my caption was basically invisible to the system. He said 'you gotta use words people actually search for, not just hashtags.' So I tried a line like 'how I fixed this chipped corner on a 1950s dresser' instead of 'refinished oak table.' That post got 400 views in 2 hours. Has anyone else had that moment where you realize your approach was totally killin your reach?

Yeah I had this exact same moment. I was posting "walnut console table" thinking I was being clever and my grandma was the only one liking them. Then I tried "how I fixed a gap in my dining table joint without clamps" and suddenly people were commenting asking about the gap. Felt like I was purposely making my content invisible for months for no reason.

Right, so basically the algorithm wants your whole life story and a step by step of your screw-up before it'll show anyone your finished piece. I swear the search terms have more character than the actual projects sometimes. Guess we're all just writing diary entries for Google now.
