Can we talk about how every product is now 'curated'?

I swear I heard the word 'curated' five times in one day last week. My friend said her Instagram feed is 'curated', then a grocery store ad said they have a 'curated selection' of chips. What happened to just picking things you like? It feels like a fancy way to say someone else chose a bunch of stuff and put it on a shelf. Has anyone else noticed this word popping up everywhere for no reason?

It's just part of that whole trend where everything has to sound more important than it actually is. Grocery stores used to just have a "selection" and now it's "curated" like they're some fancy art gallery instead of a place to buy chips. I notice the same thing with menus calling stuff "artisanal" or "handcrafted" when it's just a sandwich.

Yeah it's like everything has to be some big deal now. I saw a sign for "curated coffee beans" the other day and I was like they're just beans from a bag. My cousin literally calls her Pinterest board "curated" and I can't even look at her the same way anymore lol.
