Why does nobody question the 'hustle culture' advice to always take the higher salary job?
I was at a finance workshop in Chicago last week where a guy straight up said 'never turn down more money' and I thought about how my own 15% raise two years ago cost me all my evenings and weekends until I burned out after 6 months, so has anyone else found that taking a lower paying role with better boundaries actually worked out better long term?

Six months of burnout from a 15% raise? That's wild, man. I mean I get it, extra cash sounds great on paper but if you're working every night and weekend it ain't worth it. I know a few people who took less money for a 9-5 schedule and they seem way happier than me hustling doubles.

Used to think grinding it out for a bigger paycheck was the smart play. But seeing friends who chose less stress over more money really opened my eyes. They look genuinely rested and that's worth more than a few extra bucks.

Do you think they'd take the lower pay back if they knew what they know now? Curious if the peace of mind is really as good as it looks from the outside.
