Went to a small business meetup in Nashville and everyone was still using paper ledgers
I stopped by a local networking event last Tuesday for small biz owners in Nashville. Figured everyone would be talking about QuickBooks or FreshBooks but nope. At least 5 people pulled out actual paper books to track sales. One lady said she's been doing it for 15 years and trusts paper more than 'some app that might crash.' Anyone else run into this old school approach still working for people?

Wait, are people really still doing that by hand? I bet her penmanship is better than my typing.

Laugh it off now but wait until you need to sign a stack of paperwork at a closing. My hand cramped up after the first three signatures. I actually started practicing my signature at home after that embarrassing moment. Keep a good pen handy too - those cheap ballpoints at the bank are terrible.

Three signatures and your hand cramped? I signed my mortgage papers at a Title company a few years back and it was maybe ten signatures total. I think people oversell the hand cramping thing or maybe I just have freak hands. But yeah the ballpoint pens at banks are genuinely terrible, that part I agree with.
