Update: Payment delays are messing with my small business cash flow.

I use a popular invoicing app for my freelance projects. Last month, a big payment was stuck in processing for over a week. I had to delay paying my own bills because of it. These systems promise efficiency but often create more stress. How do you handle late payments from clients?

Hold up, that delay is almost always on the client's bank or card, not the invoicing app itself. The app just shows you the status. You gotta chase the client to fix their payment method.

Honestly I read a blog post from a payment processor that broke this down. They said most of the time the app is just the messenger, it's waiting on approval codes from the bank's side. The client's bank might flag it as weird activity or just be slow. So yeah, chasing the client is literally the only fix, they have to call their own bank. Changed how I see those pending notifications for sure.

That point about the delay being on the client's bank is so true. I've had clients get mad at me, but like @derek875 explained, it's out of my hands. Now I just send them the blog post and save myself the headache.
