The insurance claim that ate my whole summer
I own a small flooring business and back in May I had a commercial job where a cleaning crew flooded part of a retail space before we even started. Long story short the insurance adjuster took 4 months to approve the claim and I had materials sitting in storage the whole time eating up money. Did anyone else have an insurance payout take way longer than the 30 days they promise? I'm still waiting on the last check.

kept saying they were reviewing it" yeah @wright.lisa that was exactly it. they went dark for like 3 weeks at a time and then id call and get the same "still reviewing" line. i think some adjusters just sit on claims until someone pushes hard enough. honestly i dont buy that its some big conspiracy against small businesses. most of the time its just one lazy person at a desk not wanting to do their job.

Did they give you any reason at all for dragging it out 4 months, or just kept saying they were "reviewing" it? I'm curious if you had to keep hounding them yourself or if they just went silent for weeks at a time. Seems like they know small businesses can't afford to wait that long and that's kinda the point.

Ugh, four months is ridiculous. They definitely went silent for weeks at a time after every "reviewing" update. It's like they know exactly how long they can make you wait before you give up.
