The day my "budget tracker" turned out to be a notes app with three entries

I kept a spreadsheet for 14 months. Color coded categories, monthly totals, the whole deal. Then I opened it during a slow shift at the help desk and realized I had only ever filled in January, March, and one random Tuesday in June. I was making big decisions like 'I can afford this car payment' based on basically nothing. What tipped me off? My rent column said $450 but I moved to Phoenix two years ago and pay $1,100. Has anyone else run a fake system for way too long before catching it?
