The client invoice dispute that took 3 months to settle over a $450 error

I run a small bookkeeping service in Dayton, and last spring one of my clients insisted I had double-charged them for payroll processing. I checked my records three times and found their own employee had submitted the same expense form twice, but the client's office manager refused to budge. It took 11 weeks, four phone calls, and a formal spreadsheet from the payroll company in Cincinnati to prove the original charge was correct. The office manager finally admitted the mixup over email, but they still asked me to split the fee as a goodwill gesture. My question is, how long do you let a dispute drag on before you just walk away from the account, or is eating a small loss sometimes the cheapest fix?

That $450 was probably cheaper than losing 11 weeks of your time over it.
