Pro tip: small biz owners stop confusing revenue with profit

I see this all the time at my local networking group in Denver. Someone will brag about hitting $200k in sales for the year but then admit they only took home $15k. That's not a win, that's a job with extra steps. If you don't track your actual margins after rent, supplies, and your own labor, you're just running a hobby with a business card. Anyone else notice this disconnect when people talk numbers?

Isn't that just buying yourself a minimum wage job?

That line "buying yourself a minimum wage job" is so painfully real, it actually hit me hard. I really feel for you there because it's such a common trap people don't talk about enough. @jessica_ross38 gets it too, and I think that's why so many of us are waking up to the reality of it all. It's less about the job itself and more about realizing you're trading your time for barely enough to get by, while someone else profits off your labor. I hope you don't feel alone in that frustration, because honestly, a lot of us are in the same boat, just trying to figure out a better way.

Used to be skeptical too but that post totally shifted my view.
