Paid for a $400 business coach and got nothing but generic advice off YouTube

I signed up for a 6 week program with this local guy in Phoenix who claimed he helped small businesses scale. First session he just told me to post more on social media and network at chamber events. Cost me $400 up front and I could have gotten the same tips from a free webinar. Has anyone actually had a business coach give them something they couldn't find on their own?

Respectfully, I see this a bit different. A good coach isn't paying for secrets you can't find online, they're paying for accountability and someone to call you out on your blind spots. Most people know what they should do, they just don't do it consistently (guilty of this myself). If a coach just hands you generic advice and sends you on your way, that's a bad coach, but not a sign the whole thing is a scam. Maybe look for someone who asks tough questions and doesn't just agree with everything you say, that's where the real value is for the money.

So @dixon.spencer, does a bad coach refund your money if you already knew the YouTube stuff?
