My CPA told me to reject that settlement, saved me $14k

Last tax season my CPA in Tucson looked at an IRS offer I was about to accept and said don't do it, we can fight this. He found a depreciation error from 2021 that I'd missed completely, and we got the whole penalty removed instead of settling for half. Has anyone else had a professional talk you out of a quick fix that ended up working way better?

Did your CPA end up charging extra for the fight, or was it covered? My buddy had a mechanic talk him out of a cheap fix and it saved him like $800 later, so I get it.
