Lost $400 on a 'guaranteed' crypto trading bot from a Telegram group

The guy running it showed screenshots of 30% monthly gains and said the bot only needed a $400 minimum to start. Three weeks later the group got deleted and my money was gone, turns out the whole thing ran on new deposits paying old members. Anyone else get burned by one of these 'passive income' bots, and how did you spot the next one before sending cash?
