I paid $400 for an accountant to sort out my side gig taxes and it saved me almost $1,100
I run a small woodworking side business out of my garage in Boise and always just dumped everything into TurboTax. A guy at my local makerspace kept telling me I was missing deductions, so I finally paid a real CPA $400 back in January to redo my books. She caught a pile of stuff I never tracked, like mileage to craft fairs and a chunk of my garage utilities, and I ended up owing $1,080 less than what the software wanted. Now I'm wondering if I should just keep her on every year or if there's a cheaper way to handle quarterly stuff myself. What do you all pay for a small business accountant, and is $400 a year normal?
