Hot take: I lost a $15k client because I sent a proposal to the wrong email address last Tuesday.
I was rushing before a flight from Denver and accidentally sent their detailed quote to a competitor with a similar name, which forced me to call them both immediately and offer a 10% discount to keep the deal, so has anyone else had a major email slip-up and how did you fix it?

A tech writer I follow had a good tip for this. They always fill the "to" field last, after writing the email and attaching files. It forces you to look at the address right before sending. That extra pause can save a lot of trouble. Your story about the discount is a tough way to learn that lesson, but at least you kept the client. Seth's buddy really paid for his mistake too.

Wait, did seth683's buddy actually give everyone a 5% discount for a whole year? That's way worse than a one-time hit.

Man, sending to the wrong email is brutal. My buddy once meant to send a client list to his partner but CC'd the whole client list instead, showing everyone's discounted rates. He had to call each person, explain the mess, and give everyone on that list an extra 5% off for a year just to keep them from leaving. It was a crazy expensive typo.
