Hired a $200/hour bookkeeper and it nearly ruined my quarterly filing

I thought paying a pro would save me time, so I brought in this bookkeeper who charged $200 an hour. They messed up the inventory count by about $12,000 and my accountant caught it two days before the deadline. I had to pay another $300 in rush fees to get the corrected numbers filed on time. Has anyone else had a 'professional' make things worse than doing it yourself?

My CPA charged me double that and still missed a $7k deduction.

Riley Taylor, I once paid a guy named Dave $500 to fix my truck and he left a wrench in the engine block. At least your CPA probably didn't blow up your tax return on the highway.

@the_tara Are you sure it wasn't just listed under a different line? Mistakes happen but that seems unusual.
