Found a tiny coffee shop in Tulsa that pays its roaster a profit share
Stopped by this place called Redfork Roasters last month just to kill time before a meeting. Owner was behind the counter, we got talking about how she structures pay. She gives her head roaster 5% of net profit every quarter, not just a salary. I thought that was wild for a shop doing maybe $30k a month in sales. She said it cut turnover to zero in 2 years. My own side gig has 3 part timers and I've been wrestling with how to keep them around. Anyone else try profit sharing at a small business this size? Curious if it works when margins are thin.
