Ditched my spreadsheet budget for a cash envelope system, 3 months in

I used to track every dollar in a giant Google Sheets with color tabs and formulas, but I kept finding excuses to skip updating it. After my rent check bounced in Nashville last fall because I miscalculated a transfer, I got fed up. Switched to cash envelopes for groceries, eating out, and fun money on November 1st. It feels backwards in 2025, but when the envelope is empty, I just stop spending, no mental math or guilt trips. I still use the bank app for bills and savings, but variable spending is now physical and painful to part with. My dining out spend dropped like 40 percent in January alone, and I think it's because handing over twenties hurts more than swiping a card. Has anyone else gone analog for part of their finances, or am I the only one who needed the friction to actually stick?
