Blew $150 on a fancy budgeting app that did nothing

I signed up for YNAB last month thinking it would finally get my spending under control. Turns out I just needed to actually look at my bank statements instead of paying for a tool that did the same thing. The whole setup took like 4 hours and I still went back to a plain spreadsheet after 2 weeks. Anyone else fall for the hype on these expensive finance apps?

Blew through three different apps before I learned the same lesson. Spreadsheet gang for life.

Saw a blog post the other day talking about how all these fancy productivity apps just add more overhead than they save. The guy basically said spreadsheets let you build exactly what you need without fighting some company's design choices. Honestly makes a lot of sense, the simpler tool wins in the long run.
