Was a minimalist layout actually better after 2 years of complex spreads?
I started bullet journaling with just a simple list and calendar, then over 2 years I went ALL in with mood trackers, habit grids, and weekly art spreads. Honestly it looked amazing but I was spending like 45 minutes every Sunday setting it up. Last month I switched back to a bare bones layout with only a future log and daily rapid logging because I got tired of feeling guilty when I skipped a week. Now I'm actually using it every day again and it feels way more practical. But part of me misses the creative outlet and I'm wondering if I just need a better balance. Is anyone else flip-flopping between simple and elaborate spreads? What made you pick one side over the other?

45 minutes every Sunday for a layout is basically a part-time job you’re not getting paid for (except in pressure and guilt). I went through this exact loop and landed on a compromise: one little art corner in the corner of my weekly spread, but the rest is just black ink and chaos. It’s like a cheat code for keeping the fun without the dread.

@kim819 that art corner idea is clever. How do you keep yourself from letting that one little spot snowball into a full page of doodles?
