Pro tip: Don't buy that $50 stencil pack for your bullet journal

I saw a fancy pack of 20 stencils on Etsy and grabbed them thinking they'd make my layouts look perfect. After three months of trying, I've only used one circle stencil twice and the rest are just collecting dust in my drawer. Anyone else end up with a pile of bujo supplies they barely touch?

collecting dust" is exactly right. I did the same thing with a set of brush pens, thought I'd do all these fancy headers and calligraphy. Used them twice. Now they're just dried out and wasted. The stencil thing is a trap because you think you need all those shapes but really you just need a ruler and maybe one circle stencil. Store bought stuff is fine for the basic stuff, you don't need all that extra. The hype around having "perfect" layouts is a scam to get you to spend money you don't need to spend. Keep it simple and you'll actually use what you buy.

That $50 stencil pack is like my $40 set of fine liners I bought for my journal. I used them once for a mood tracker and now they're just sitting there looking pretty.
