Overheard a YouTuber say layouts don't matter and I have mixed feelings
Was watching this girl do a spread in a coffee shop last week and she was like 'just dump your tasks wherever, the layout is fake'. Been using the same monthly calendar from Ryder Carroll for like 2 years and it works. But now I'm wondering if I'm overthinking my collections and trackers. Anyone else stick to one format because it feels safe?

Yeah but @the_patricia I think you're missing the point a little (respectfully). Like those popular YouTubers make money off making their layouts look pretty, so of course they put time into it. But for normal people like us who just need to remember to buy milk and pay bills, function beats form every time. I used to spend an hour drawing out this elaborate mood tracker with color coded dots and honestly it did nothing except make me feel bad when I skipped a day. Now I just scribble tasks in a messy cluster and it honestly works better because I'm not afraid to mess it up. The skill isn't making it look nice, it's making it actually work for your brain.

but like, if layouts actually don't matter why do all the popular bullet journal people spend so much time on them? sounds like she just doesn't want to admit her messy spreads stress her out. is it really fake or is it just a skill she hasn't bothered to learn?
