My sister told me to stop using a ruler for my weekly spread and it felt like a weird rule

She said, 'Just draw the lines freehand, it's faster and it looks more like you.' I thought it would look messy, but after two weeks of trying it, my setup time went from 30 minutes to about 10. I was so focused on perfect boxes that I was wasting time. Now my pages have more character and I don't stress about tiny mistakes. Has anyone else ditched a tool that actually made their journal better?

Honestly, same with my fancy pens. Switched to a basic ballpoint and my handwriting actually got better.

I was a total ruler loyalist for years. Your sister's advice would have made me cringe, but seeing the time you saved has me reconsidering my whole system.

Wait, you were using a RULER for a weekly spread? That's like bringing a chainsaw to trim a houseplant. The whole point is to get your thoughts down, not build a tiny prison for your Tuesday appointments. Your sister is a genius for setting you free.
