My old index card habit came back to bite me this month

After 6 years of bullet journaling, the index card I tucked in my pocket as a backup got soaked in the rain on Tuesday, so I lost the whole day's list and had to redo the page from memory, has anyone else given up on paper backups for phone notes or am I just stuck in my old ways?

Three years ago I had a similar thing happen with a sticky note on my car dashboard. The sun faded it so bad by the end of the week that I couldn't tell if my 3pm meeting was with "Dan" or "Dave" and I showed up to the wrong office building across town. Turns out it was neither, it was a dentist appointment I'd scribbled in the margin. Now I take a photo of every paper list I make before I leave the house, which works great until I forget to charge my phone and the photos are all blurry anyway.
