Last week I finally figured out my monthly spread problem
I've been bullet journaling for about 3 years now, but my monthly spreads always felt cluttered and useless. Last month in Austin I tried something different - I split my tasks into three tiny columns instead of one big list. It took me maybe 10 minutes to set up, but I actually used it every day last week. Has anyone else tried a different layout that just clicked for them?

Actually, I flipped mine sideways. Drew a tiny vertical calendar down the left side of the page and used the rest as a horizontal task dump. It made the dates just a reference instead of the main focus, which helped me stop worrying about when stuff needed to be done and just get it done. Also found that writing with a fine point pen lets me cram way more into those little spaces without it looking messy.

Read somewhere that flipping the orientation actually changes how your brain processes the information. Something about horizontal layouts being better for scanning tasks while vertical is for timelines. Makes sense honestly, never thought to try it that way though.

Hmm, actually the whole horizontal vs vertical thing might be more about personal preference than some brain science. I tried both and neither made my brain process stuff differently, just changed how much I could fit on the page.
