Hot take: My $5 notebook from the drugstore works better than the fancy $30 dotted journal I bought online.
Honestly, I used the expensive one for a whole week and the paper was so thick my pens feathered. Ngl, the cheap one has smoother paper and lies flat. I think the simpler binding on the basic book just works better for daily flipping. Has anyone else had a budget tool totally beat out a 'premium' one for bullet journaling?

Totally feel you on the simpler binding just working better. I had the same thing happen with a fancy planner, the pages were so stiff it drove me nuts. My cheap one from the grocery store flips perfect.

Right? What brand was your grocery store one? I grabbed a soft cover moleskine knockoff last year and the paper is thin but it lays totally flat, which is all I really need.

My friend had that same thing with the stiff pages. She got a leather one as a gift, super nice looking. Could barely open it to write. Went back to her old drugstore notebook after a week.
