Found a guy at the Phoenix airport filling out his journal with a 4 color pen, and it fixed my page layout problem
I was stuck at Sky Harbor waiting on a delayed flight to Albuquerque on Tuesday, and the guy next to me pulled out a little notebook and a 4 color pen and started going to town. I had my own journal in my bag so I peeked, and he was using one color for tasks, one for notes, one for stuff he had to hand off, and one just for a running line he drew down the side of the page. That side line was the part that got me. I have been fighting with my weekly spreads for about 5 months because everything blends together and I lose the stuff I actually need to do. I asked him about it and he said he started doing the line because he could not tell what was a note and what was a job anymore. I tried it on my next spread and it took me like 90 seconds to set up and suddenly I could see my day at a glance. The 4 color thing felt like too much for me but that one divider line is staying. Does anyone else use color codes, or do you just keep it simple with one pen?
