Can we talk about people using 50 different ink colors in one spread?

I see these Instagram bujos with 8 colors per weekly spread and it just looks like a mess to me. Stuck to one black pen and one highlighter for the last 6 months, never been more consistent. How do you guys keep it from turning into a distraction?

Same here, one pen and a highlighter keeps me way more focused.

My sister is a graphic designer and she says the brain actually processes color coded info faster than black and white, so maybe those rainbow spreads aren't totally crazy if the person actually uses the colors to mean something specific instead of just picking random ones.

That's an interesting point from her sister, but I think context matters a lot here. The brain might process colors faster, but only if the information is simple enough to be chunked by color in the first place. Once you start mixing data sets or overlapping categories, those colors can actually slow down understanding instead of helping it.
