The guy at the coffee shop who said 'I just save my spare change and got a free trip to Japan'
I was waiting for my latte last Tuesday and overheard this dude bragging to his friend that he saved up all his pocket change for two years and it paid for a flight to Tokyo... I did the math in my head and that's like $40 in dimes max, unless he's dumping rolls of twenties in there. Then his friend called him out and he admitted it was actually just a loyalty points hack on his credit card... so the change thing was just a cute story. Has anyone else heard a 'budget win' that was secretly just a credit card reward brag?

So why bother with the change story if the credit card did all the work?

Maybe the change story's just easier to tell when you're trying to explain a big life shift.

Oh come on, the change story is way more relatable and charming than bragging about credit card points at a coffee shop. He probably tells that version because it's a fun conversation starter, not because he's trying to pull one over on people.
