Shoutout to my friend who convinced me to track every single dollar
For years, I thought budgeting was just about not buying coffee out. My friend Jen showed me her spreadsheet last month, where she logs every single thing she spends, even a $2 pack of gum. I laughed at first, but she said, 'You can't fix what you don't see.' So I tried it for a week. I was shocked to see I spent over $80 on random snacks and gas station stops just driving my route. Seeing the real numbers, not just guessing, made it click. I moved that money straight to my car repair fund. Now I'm actually hitting my savings goals. Has anyone else had a moment where tracking the small stuff finally made sense?

Yeah, the "you can't fix what you don't see" thing is so true. I had a similar moment but with time, not money. I tracked my screen time for a week and was just staring at my phone for like 3 hours a day without even noticing. It was all just little five minute checks that added up.

Three hours a day sounds like a lot, but what were you actually doing? If an hour of that was video calling your mom or reading the news, that's not the same as mindless scrolling. My own phone says I use it a lot, but half the time it's just playing music while I work on something else. The number alone doesn't tell the full story.

My screen time was 28 hours last week, which honestly made me rethink my whole phone use.
